Flatworm exit = dying ceriths?

I dosed my tank with FWE yesterday to get rid of Zoa eating nudis, and everything looks good except the ceriths which all look like they're dying. All other water parameters are good. The ceriths looked great for two weeks and some have been been with me for four months or so. All of the other species of snails are fine. Anyone else have problems with FWE and ceriths?

Any info appreciated,
Mike

So did you FWE the entire tank?

I have never used the stuff personally, just scares the hell out of me, but its weird only a certain type of snail would have an issue. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the particles (FWE) are accumulating on the substrate where the ceriths live? In higher concentration than in the water stream, it might cause them more issues than others? - I really don't know, just trying to help brainstorm.

when i used flatworm exit on my tank, it seemed to adversely affect my tongan nassarius snails and ceriths, while my nerites, margaritas, and astreas were all fine.

mine recovered, but its weird that it only seemed to affect them, and not my other snails.

I dosed the tank with about 75% more than recommended for my size aquarium for flatworm eradication. This is about the recommended dose for killing zoa nudis. I don't have any acros, so I know that dying flatworms are not a factor. All of the other snails are acting normally. About 24 hours after the dosing, all of the ceriths were lying on the sand at the front of the tank. They appear to be paralyzed as they are extended from their shells, but just totally frozen. I moved them all to some stored saltwater in a measuring cup, and it looks like some have recovered, but some are still frozen. If I touch them, they retract for a second and then extend again.

Mike- All of the corals, shrimp & fish are fine. Everything remained open after the dose. Unless you have a ton of flatworms that can poison your tank when they die, I wouldn't be too worried about using Exit.

Barrman- how long did it take for your snails to recover?

Does anyone know how long it takes for this stuff to clear out of a system. I am going to dose it again in a week to kill any remaining nudis that haven't hatched yet. I'll just remove the ceriths first for a few days.

i actually dosed FW Exit specifically for zoa esting nudis as well. I did about 4x the recommended dose.

my snails reconvered surprisingly quickly... within 12 hours they were back to normal.

i did a single FW Exit dose in my main tank to kill any nudis that might not be on the zoa colonies, hiding elsewhere in the tank, etc. after the first treatment, i just made sure to inspect my zoa colonies EVERY SINGLE DAY looking for more nudis. if any eggs do hatch, as long as you catch em quickly before they mature and start laying more eggs, you should be good.

Some of my ceriths are still out of commission. They're not dead because they retract into their shells when touched. Most have SLOWLY recovered and it's been over a week now. All of the other snails & livestock have been fine. The dosage I used was almost double the recommended for flatworms.

If I were to dose FWE again, I'd definitely move my ceriths out of the system first.
