flatworm question

Do they always get out of control? I see a few here and there but not sure what to do yet,I have a six line wrasse but i dont think he's much help.

If they get to bad you will have to dose flatworm exit which is never fun... trust me, been there done that. Are they the red flatworms or the white/clear ones?

Personally, I would consider treating them now while there are only a few. They can reproduce exponentially. Once their populations are high, its tough to get rid of them. Plus, once there is a lot of them, there is a significant increased risk they'll nuke your tank when you treat.

Jeff, That reminds me... I didn't manage to save many of your corals but I did however keep your flatworms alive.. they are everywhere in my tank now so just let me know when you would like to repopulate your new system and I will bring you a few thousand of them :D

Dose now while there are only a few. I waited too long to dose my old 75g and ended up having a massive tank crash because the population was triple what I thought it was and they fouled the water something fierce.

Those little red flatworms are nasty buggers. Real pains. Kill 'em now.

red worms

red worms

i had them in 2 of my tanks----put a 6 line wrasse in each tank and in a few weeks there all gone---if there are any still around they arnt showing there ugly red head. ---worked for me----

their the red ones, the population has stayed about the same.I added a christmas wrasse to see if it would go to town on them. During my last waterchange I syphoned a bunch out, works pretty good. Jeff, they could be your flatworms.

I had shrimp, snails, and anenomes and they were all fine when I dosed my tank. Dose more than what the directions say. Just make sure that you run ALOT of carbon through a canister filter and do water changes.

Thanks for the info,I assume the carbon and waterchange should be done a few days after the treatment? How long does it take to kill em?

It will start to kill them almost immedietly. Try to syhpon out as many as you can before you start to dose with a turkey baster. The does. Immed. following that run carbon for a good two weeks. Also do a water change right after you get the carbon running. Don't be to alarmed if your softie corals looks less than stellar for a few days.
