flatworms on my Torch coral

I have a beautiful Torch that has been doing very well for about 6 months now......until a few weeks ago.

It has not been extending like normal. I recently noticed a small outbreak of Asterina stars and just took my Torch out to examine. I did find a few Asterina stars on it but...........I see a lot of flat worms on the underside of each head.

Are these damaging my Torch?

What to do about it?

I have a Hammer about 10 inches away that seems fine............

How about Toadstools? Now that I am looking, they are swarming on my Toadstool even though that guy looks great most of the time.....

Different issue. Yes, they do. Salifert flatworm exit will fix that nicely. Be sure to follow the directions.

I have flatworms in my tank now and they love my mushrooms and my frogspawn. They haven't touched my hammer yet but I am not sure about torch.
Either way if you use the flatworm exit plz let us know how it goes. I think I am going to pick some up next time at the store.

Did you order an extra box? Sometimes it requires two treatments or a dosage greater than indicated. For a 210 gallon tank plus system, it is likely to require a 150% dosage. Just FYI. I have done this several times. Be sure to siphon dieing flatworms as they release toxins. I stop all circulation pump but leave powerheads going. I dose 150% normally. Be sure and blow the treatment in between rocks and siphon from those locations as well. Be prepared for a significant water change afterwards and if you have it, run carbon after treatment. Good luck.

Thanks! ..............I REALLY appreciate the info (exactly what I was looking for)

I am off to retrieve a second box.......

Does the torch look harmed? Dosing with FWE may be a bit drastic.

Over the months, adding corals to my tank, I have seen flatworms twice. Each time they died out within a week or two without any damage at all.

One torch coral that I received had a number of flatworms but they ended up being harmless and died off. I dont have any type of wrasse either.

My advice, dont panic and dose FWE, wait a bit and see if it gets worse or harms the coral.
