Anyone have a flatworm population that results in tissue necrosis. I am currently having a rough go w/a bout of tissue necrosis. No drastic changes in any of the parameters. Just trying to come up w/an idea for what is going on.
I have a significant popullation of planarias in my 180 without any necrosis... Ive had them for a long time. I just added a Melanarus wrasse to eat them a few days ago.
I think the only thing they can do is smother the coral if the population is out of control or release toxins if there is a mass die-off.
I just went through a bout' with AEFWs .. A pair of green Coris wrasse did it for me in just a couple of weeks. All Corals that were receeding are now recovering nicely and no show of any flatworms when basting my corals. Planaria will not cause any necrosis. The toxins from the Planaria will cause more harm to your fish than the coral. However, Acro Eating Flatworms will cause necrosis and eventually death for some of your SPS colonies. Make sure you know which ones you have.
