Flexible PVC Pipe for Pump Connection

I am connecting a Sequence/Reeflo Hammerhead pump (5,800G, 24’ head) to the 1-1/2” bulkhead in my 180G sump (AGA glass tank), and I possibly have to replace Hammerhead to Reeflo Mantaray (5,200G, 55’ head) if Hammerhead is not powerful enough for my system.

The connection is bulkhead (slip) > 1.5” pipe (less than 6”) > 1.5” ball valve (slip) to union > pump. I need the pump to be as close to the sump as possible.

Should I use rigid PVC pipe or flexible pipe? Some people recommended me to use flexible schedule 40 PVC pipe instead of rigid pipe to reduce the vibration of the pump, and make the connection and the glass sump last longer.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

I have a Sequence Barracuda running a closed loop on my system. I used a combination of rigid PVC and the flexible PVC. I used rigid on the outlet to connect a ball valve and then ran a piece of flexible to connect to the manifold, then connected the inlet section with flexible also. Reduced vibration and noise, and also was easier making connections as they didn't have to line up perfectly.

Flex so that you reduce the vibration against the glass and also so that any unintentional kicks or harsh movements of the pump will not stress the glass where the bulkhead is secured.
