flies in tank

I've had a few flies get in the house this week and hadn't gotten around to killing them with the swatter yet. Well, as I'm doing some maintenance on the tank I find a total of 3 flies dead or dying in the water in 2 different tanks. This doesn't happen often, but it's also not the first time I've seen it. Are they just looking for a drink and somehow slipping in too far? Does this happen to anyone else? I guess there's not much I can do about it other than take them out fast if I find them. Wierd.

Whats with the fies lately? I killed 4 in the house today, maybe cause its so hot outside? It was 102 here today! I find that when a fly does end up in my tank the fish tear it apart and eat it, free food!

I repainted and put new ceramec tile in my bathroom. I guess the flies wanted a buzz so it must have attracted them and I killed a half a dozen in there. I hadn't seen a flie in the house in a year. I found a few in the sump floating too. Maybe there is an area flie population increase.

I live in the middle of the forest. I get flies, gnats, wasps, moths, mosquitoes and anything else that is attracted to light (I have no hood). When my halides are on at night, the bugs stand ready for my window/door to open. When it does, they go straight for the bulb, get fried, and fall to the water. My cardinals and clowns eat all the bugs small enough to fit in the mouth.
