flip flop in growth between sps and zoanthids

I have had several colonies of zoanthids and SPS corals in my take for approx 4 months. In the first three months I had massive zoanthid growth and little to no growth of SPS.

over the last month most of my zoanthid colonies are regressing and losing heads like crazy, while my SPS colonies are all rapidly growing? LPS remains neutral.

Is there any common nutrient or factor that directly links sps and zoanthids that could cause this?

Oh...
We would need to have a lot of info for this thread to live.
People will reply to this when you actually fill up with some pictures and a text with details about your system.
It could become a great thread!

A "bump" won't do it. :D

Grandis.

Simple. Sps like clean tanks. Zoas like dirty tanks. Spot feed zoas and should be OK

What do you mean by "dirty tanks"? LOL!

So if I put some zoas in a nice SPS thank they should die, right?
Man, that saying is hard to die!! LOL!!

this is just so untrue :P

funny how it got around that zoas like dirty water over the years , myth for sure that has no merit lol they can tolerate many fluctuations but like any coral once water quality goes south so does the coral;)
