Float level sensor "on" all the time?

As of this morning, my level sensor is stuck on "on".
The floater itself moves freely, but doesn't shut off electricity when the correct level is reached.

Any ideas?

PS: Hm, now it's working again, after I pulled it and let it thoroughly dry off.
It was submerged for about 10 minutes, when my return pump was off for a water change.
Could some of the electrical parts have been exposed to saltwater during that time?
But it's sealed to prevent that, right?

Fortunately, I have it set to stop topping off after 15 minutes!

Probably time for a new sensor? I wouldn't want to risk dumping a ton of fresh water in my system. Is it an expensive piece to replace? I know I can get new sensors for my JBJ for pretty cheap.

same here, we sell 100's I dont have a single warranty return for a float switch at all here.

Things to check

How old is the sensor
Has the insulating core been damaged by being bent at right angles over the edge of a tank or eroded.

Age should not play a part, the only factor I have ever seen is damage to the lead going into the sensor. If you have been unfortunate to damage your lead then a dab of silicon is a cure all once the sensor has dried out.

I didn't see any damage, but that's exactly what I did at both ends of the black shrink wrap, just in case.

But I'll probably still take it out of the sump during water changes!
