My mom was born and raised at Mill Creek. She tells of catching huge trout in the river there.

Its just outside of newburg and if you sneeze you would miss it, but the place is awesome, particullly up by the spring with the old cobblestones the settlers but around it down about 10 feet

Would love to go with you sometime Dave. Parents still live in Rolla

For daytrip, the Black works, water level is never too low and plenty of decent campgrounds and a couple of swimmin' holes.

For overnight, the most enjoyable float I've been on was the Norfork, down near the bootheel, great scenery, granite riverbed in many places, not the best for a first time floater tho. Same goes for the Current.

Well, the skinny for me is that I work weekends, so I won't be making the float trip most likely.

However, not to derail this thread, but I usually prefer fishing the streams during the week because there is a lot less traffic out there then. During the weekend, flyfishing can be a challenge with all the river rats leaving their holes.

I just got out the flyrod and reel...not rusted at all amazingly. I still fit in my waders and shoes, but the vest is a little snug...it will work though. Now I have to resist the temptation to buy the Winston WT 7'6" flyrod and Abel reel I have been eyeing for several years

If you want to go some weekday or afternoon, Clark, just let me know. I am off Monday through Friday.
