Float Valve location

I'm at it again with questions. I'm using a 20 gal tank as my RO/DI reservoir fed thru a float valve (with a solenoid valve & timer to control the access time period). I'd like todrill the hole for the bulkhead fitting before purchasing the float valve. Does anyone know the swing range of the float valves? In other words, how far below the high water level should the float valve be located? [It's a pretty standard white poly valve & ball. I'll be purchasing it from The Filter Guys]. Thanks, Jim

The float ball will be adjustable with a screw on the swing arm. That way you can adjust it to the water level you want. I like to keep the water level below the bulkhead fitting. One less place that a leak could happen.

Texxx, thanks for your input. In my case, I'll be installing a float valve in the RO/DI reservoir, as well as in the sump tank and want to get the maximum usage of both tanks so I'll set a 'off level' pretty high in the tanks. That's why I'm trying to define the best valve location. [In both tanks I have an overflow fitting as a safety feature in case of the float valve malfunction]. Jim
