I got a RO/DI system on the way from BRS and i got a free float valve with the purchase. I understand the purpose and i think i understand how it works but i was wondering is this all i need to make it work or do i need other plumbing. (auto shut off accessory on BRS).

also should i also be ordering filters and "resin"? or does this come with a new unit.

It's likely everything that you need to get started except for a container to store the water in. The Auto Shutoff Valve on the RO/DI unit should shut the water flow off when the float valve shuts the flow off to the storage container. This may take a minute or two. This should prevent the filter from dumping waste water and building pressure once the storage container is full. I wouldn't use a float valve unless your sure that the RO/DI filter is equipped with an Auto Shutoff Valve.
