Floating Chaeto

I'm setting up a mantis shrimp tank, thought I would add some chaeto from my 10 gal reef's AC70 HOB refugium, floating it in a fish breeder. Good idea, been done before?

I did that in a plastic fish breeder. The stuff took off since it was at surface level. worked as a nice refugium for lots of shrimp and pods. once a month I shook out the chaeto to release the pods back into the tank and the fish were happy for it. The only drawbacks are asthetic.

You might try just stuffing it behind a rock in an area of good flow and light. That's what I did, and it is fine and doing it's thing out of sight.
