Hello everyone!

I have found several species of snails here in the upper keys and I need an ID.

This is a very common species here and is found both in the water and above on the rock. But for the life of me I cannot find an ID online.

I have also found the beautiful Janthina janthina or Violet Snail.

I find it so interesting that this species floats around on a bubble raft and feeds on hydrozoans and man-o-war.

Thanks for any help on the first ID!

The first one is some variation of crown conch. They're all over the coast of Florida.

Beautiful Janthina. I only ever found a few of those, and they were a lot smaller than yours appears to be. As pug says, the big snail is Melongena corona, and is predatory on other snails and clams. That's a fabulous example of the species.

Cheers,

Don
