Florida tank suitable for octopus?

Hello,

I currently have a 300 gallon fish only tank, with an attached 40 gallon tank/refuigium. I would like to purchase an octopus, to put in my 40 gallon "florida" tank. The tank currently only has a large (4ft) mangrove growing, and a bed of turtle grass, with miracle mud as a substrate. I would like to know if this is an acceptable tank for an octopus. Would the many stretching roots of the mangrove tree, along with the grass be enough hiding space for the octopus, i can always put in some driftwood, and some rock, as long as it goes anlong with the "everglades" style? There is only an 8 inch space between the water level and tank, and an open top with mangrove growing out. Also, if he inks in his tank, will it hurt or effect anything in the 300, because if this lil guy can hurt my beauties in the big tank, it's definately a no-go.

Thank you,

SkyTearer:)

I was just really thinking about having an octopus, and would likw to know from people that have kept them, is it worth it? I heard from a couple people they're really hard to keep and expensive to maintain. It's either an octopus or a school or firefish, any ideas anyone?

I got a pigmy octo from some Lr I picked up from TBS in Tampa, FL

He eats a lot of my snails and hermits so I have to be continually putting more in....he also now eats out of my hand the frozen silvers I have for my anenamaes.

Feels wierd in my hand...but hasn't taken a bite out of me yet...LOL
