Flow accelerator - Eductor

When I ordered my JBJ ATO I also figured I'd try one of these flow accelerators with the eductor style end on loc-line. I got all my new gadgets installed last night and felt like I needed to post about these things after seeing how they work. If you guys have ever thought about getting one I highly recommend them. They range in sizes from 1/2 to 1". I got the 3/4" one and plugged it into one of my closed loop outlets. The flow pattern is just unreal. Rather than being straight-forward it creates all sorts of turbulence and pushes water really hard. You guys would just have to see my tank to believe all the flow I have going. I have 45x turnover rate in my big tank with 3 powerheads, pan world return pump and a barracuda on a closed loop it creates an unreal current. My tank is 11 feet long and I simply could not imagine this flow in a 6 foot tank. My fish love the flow, I picked up a 9" clown tang from Divers Den and he loves the flow. I'll probably pick up 3 more of these eductors, but it is well worth the $16. On a smaller tank if one were to plug one of these units into a return I would think they could eliminate any powerheads they may have, they are that good. I have read that you must have an appropriately sized pump for them to work properly though, an underpowered pump would not yield good results. Here is a link to the one I got.

Oh yeah eductors rock!
I've used a diy one on my closed loop for years it easily doubles or triples the output.

They work best on pressure rated pumps. IIRC they can increase flow x5 with a pressure rated pump vs. x2-3 with a regular pump. The pump I'm using isn't pressure rated.

Back before the prop pumps and maxi jet mods came to be I had DIY eductors on all my maxijets.
The output and turbulence was awesome at the time. More so since they cost ~ $2-3.00 to make.
