Flow acclimation?

NeveSSL

Got tubes?
Hi all!

Got 2 new Koralia 3's for Christmas this year! WOOHOO! :D And I'm so glad I did... I greatly needed more flow, for both the corals and the overall cleanliness of the tank. My sand was starting to look a bit nasty. :)

Anyway, do I need to "acclimate" my tank to the new flow? There is a LOT of flow. More than I thought there was going to be! :)

I think maybe more than anything I just need to get my xenia out of the direct line of fire and check on the other corals. My zoas have already opened back up, and the Koralias have only been on for a few minutes. :)

Any thoughts are much welcomed!

Thanks!

Brandon

I'd just check to make sure something isn't getting blasted with the new pumps/locations. Your corals may close up for a day or two (potentially), but as long as they aren't being blasted, they will likely be fine (don't think it's as easy to blast with a Koralia, right?). You might find that some corals prefer less current and want to be moved, but that can be an ongoing thing anyway...

Well, upon inspection a little bit ago the xenia was out, but definitely not extending or anything. :D I'll move it.

Some of the palys don't seem to like it at ALL and have closed up... coincidentally they're on the same rock as the xenia... heh... My zoas on the other hand look very happy, but my frogspawn just seems hesitant to come all the way out, as does my green leather. :)

I'll give it another day and see what happens. I think everything will be fine, just a day or two to adjust.

Thanks for the reply, Gary!
