Originally posted by dendro982 Mine prefer low flow (150 gph) and aside from the pump, no flow in their direction - the mantle shouldn't move.
May be they are just picky
i have a k4 IN MY 29, a crocea about 16" away from it, fairly indirect, every now and then a jet of flow comes in from behind that folds part of the mantle, but the clam doesnt close, nor does it move, its happy and healthy

Experience differs, ClamsDirect had similar to mine.
Clamsdierct usually doesnt keep their clams very long. They usually get boxed and shipped quickly after arriving>
You may have tremendous success with the low flow. SO be it. But the claim that mantles shouldnt move is innaccurate and misleading. High flow stimulates localized maste removal, high pass through of food materials (as clams dont have polyps or move to gather food), circulate calcium, alkalinity, and other nutrients.
