Flow for a 90 gal.

I am starting a new 90 gal oceanic reef tank. i would like to add 2 6000 stream on a multi controller is this to much for a 90 gal. I plan on having a mixed sps,lps reef tank. i'm not sure if the tank is going to be bare bottom or a 1 inch layer of sand. any help would be great. Thanks in advance

I think two are fine but you will likely be running only one at a time with Interval !. I assume the sand will not be sugar sand. The only problems you may have are if you intend to keep frogspawn and torch, they can be tricky to place with the Streams in use so that the long polyps are not whipped around- the corals don't open well in the strong flow. In that case you may be better with one so you can place them far away and not have a flow near them.

thanks, Roger for your reply i was planing on keeping a Euphyllia species in the tank, so maybe one 6000 on a single controller would be enough, can i use a multicontroller for a single 6000. so if needed later down the road i can get another 6000.

I also have a 90gal. And I'm just setting it up. I have one 6000 with controller and 700gph return on the other side. I'm not going to spend the money on another 6000 so I was thinking about using one of the new seio pumps:rolleyes:

Bill ... are you not spending the money, because of the price? Or, do you feel like you have enough flow that you do not need another 6000?

I have a 120 (4x2x2) and I'm thinking about 2 6000s ... any opinions?

You can start with one and use it on a multicontroller- no problem. I think 2 is fine on a 120 but the same would apply regarding various long polyped LPS. On my 75 I am using a 6000 and a wavebox and while it is still just running in RO water, I need to add the salt and my rock won't be here until next week, I think that the flow is optimal. I still don't have a controller but plan to use a 7095 eventually. This gives a flow that is gentle on one end. My main inhabitants will be blastos, pipe organ, acanthastrea, acros and some polyps, maybe a yellow scroll and a rose anemone or two.

Thanks Roger ... I guess the big question now is - Who has them in stock? I'm thinking I'll be ordering two 6000s, a multicontroller, and magnet holders. Any ideas on who might have these?

They won't be stock items for the foreseeable future put in a preorder somewhere. I would expect an 8-10 week wait at this time but supposedly things are getting better but I have yet to get a really sizeable shipment. At best we were caught up for a month last summer and so we usually run behind demand but not by this much- 2-3 weeks is more the norm.

can you comment on these when you get a chance with salt and stuff, 6000 + box + 7075 thx

sam

The salt is in and hopefully I will be able to get a 7095 in a few weeks, my rock should be here in a couple days. I have a air bubble problem so I need to fix that, I must have a bad glue joint in my return line that is creating a venturi effect. When I get it the way I want I will post pictures.
