Flow for a RBTA

I've had a rbta in my tank for around a month or so now but when I first introduced it I had 2 750 gph koralias for my tank which is 57g. It seemed like no matter what I tried the flow would really hit the rbta so I took a powerhead out. Now I'm getting red slime buildup on my sand and I'm thinking its from lack of flow since my levels are perfect. Should I just downgrade my powerhead to something weaker or just put the other koralia back in the tank?

have u tried point two of them to the same point infront of the tank? i did that with mine 120 for a Koralia 3 and 4 it gave the tank a nice random flows until I switch to tunze 6100 with controller so I now I have a nice wave going but my gbta stayed under a rock in the middle of the tank ever since I stuck it there and hasn't moved.

Thats how I had the two powerheads at first and I think the flow was too much it was blowing the anemone around a lot.

Heres are some pics so you can see the placement of the anemone. I think if it wasn't in the middle of the tank it would be fine.

How about attaching the koralia's to the back wall & pointed more towards the surface of your tank & not both pointing downward toward the middle. That will also agitate the surface of the water more & help aerate it. As it is now in pic, the flow is bouncing off the front glass & right into the RBTA. Definitely put 2nd koralia back in. Has the anemone attached to the rock? If not, you might place it lower in the tank where there's less flow.

I placed the other powerhead in the back of my tank facing up and it seems to be working ok. There is some slight sand movement but not too much. And my nem decided to move over the night and the flow seems to be working very well in its new place.

Good deal...the sand being kicked up is prolly from other koralia pointing down too low...I'd point it a bit higher....btw, beautiful anemone, clowns & midas blenny...

Are the pumps protected with some type of screen? A wandering BTA is likely to end up minced in the powerheads. In your last pic, it didn't look like the anemone's foot is in a cave or crevice. It will wander until it finds a suitable cave/hole/crevice to plant its foot.

I do not have any protective screen but since I've had the anemone its only moved 2-3 inches in a month and seems to like where its at.The anemone is actually down in a crack that runs down the back part of the rock. The rock is fairly old, its been in my tank for maybe 4 or 5 months but I believe it is green coralline that is covering it. Not sure if anyone has the same experience but my green coralline or whatever it is turns into a purple/pink coralline
