flow on a planted tank?

sorry im new to the whole thing right now i have a maxijet 600 in the open tank and a rio 600 as the return in my 12 gallon nanocube the maxijet is on a flare nossle type thing is this to much flow? i plan on adding my red macro and my blue macro and my calurpaall tonight from my other tank then i might add more next weekend or maybe tommarow or if my mom wants to drive me tonight but thats really really lucky

A lot of macroalgae are fairly indifferent to the amount of flow.. some of the notable exceptions are Gracilaria, Chaetomorpha and floating species of Sargassum which all prefer to tumble. This allows for equal light distribution in the tank.

For benthic macroalgae that holdfast, flow rates and velocities dont seem to be too crucial. You certainly want good gas exchange and to disrupt gradients of nutrients and byproducts (like O2 and CO2) in the tank still.

The real question is - what else is going to be in the tank? The invertebrates and fish that you include in the aquarium will probably be much more specific as to flowrate and velocity needs. Cater to them and the macroalgae should be fine with the given environment.

i dont know what fish and inverts i should get im going to wait about a year for my tank to stabalize and then i will probably get a pipe fish or 2 but any suggestions for now

well now i had to take out the rio cause it stoped working so i out the maxi jet in the back and its doing its thing so i got a hydorflow and guess what!!!!! there is no head for a nano cube return im ****ed but now i have an extra hydor that i dont know what to use it for also i got a orange spotted prawn goby but i dony have a pistol shrimp yet should i get one?
