Flow Options for Fish and Corals

Hello,

I would like some input from some other hobbyists on how I should run some powerheads. The tank is a 30g cube and the pumps are two Hydor Koralia 400gph pumps. The only other water flow is the return from the sump which is around 500gph.

In the tank are a mix of zoos, ricordia, sps, brains, acans, and euphyllia. The fish are royal gramma, blue reef chromis, six line wrasse, and banggai cardinalfish.

I have had the tank running with the sump return and one of the powerheads for a while when I decided I needed a little bit more flow.

When I first got the new koralia I plugged it in full time, but it seemed that the flow might be too much for 1.) the Banggai Cardinalfish, and 2.) the frogspawn and the torch.

My questions are...
1.) If the cardinalfish look like they are struggling to stay in place, they probably are, right? Or am I not giving them enough credit them being fish and all.

2.) How much flow can the euphyllia handle? When both powerheads are on not only are their tentacles moving all around but the actual base/polyp as a whole is moving all around. Could this be too much flow and lead to damage?

3.) I can put them on a timer to alternate. Should I do something like A.) 15min left pump then 15min right pump, B.) 1 hour left pump then 1 hour right pump, C.) or something like the tides 6 hours left pump then 6 hours right pump.

4.) Will switching on and off the pumps this much cause them any damage, are they the type that can handle this?

Thank you Kyle

without seeing the tank, i would think your fine. k1 are'nt reccomended for wavemakers. unless your euphylla are less than 3 inches away from the return pump, u should be fine.
