Flow Question

hello everyone,

I am looking to buy a hydor Koralia but don't know which one to get. I have a 22g tank with the main pump rated at 400 gph. I still have deadspots which is why I need another pump. I was thinking of going for a Koralia nano rated at 250 gph but for 2 more dollars on dr fosters, I can get a Koralia 1 which is another 400 gph. brw, I am doing a mix reef with mainly zoanthids, rics, other lps and a few easy to keep sps (green slimer, cali tort, rose mili, monti etc)

You think its too much flow with the koralia 1? Or should I go for the Koralia nano? The look of the nano is nicer in a small tank such as mine. Your recommendations?

thanks

The good thing about Korallia's is that if you leave the optional part off, they will spread the flow (it comes out of the four quadrants off the head) -- I recommend a Korallia 4.

I know someone that has THREE Korallia 4's in a 30 gallon tall -- and it works great -- not too much direct flow hitting anything.

3 K4's in a 30G?!?!?!?! WOW!!!!!! Hey gsechen, go with the K1's. Jojos sells the Koralias for a pretty decent price ($45 for a K4) so you might be able to save money on shipping by going there. Give em a call

You're right, I have a correction ... it's TWO 4's and ONE 3 ... so thats 3200gph.

I know what you're going to say next ... it's not a 30 gallon. It's is a really cool shape -- 24x33x9 (front-to-back).

Some people need to see to believe:

LOL, that's crazy! I thought that most people with a 100x turnover were BB people! I dont think Ive ever seen that much flow in a tank with sand!!!

I wonder about the accuracy of the Korallia GPH, would be a great experiement if you had a flow meter. I have 2 4s and a 3, and am on the look out for another 3,

i have a koralia nano you can have for $25. bought saturday, wasn't up to the taks of pushing enough water behind the rocks of my 70g.

I vote for the Koralia 1, if you need more flow, use 2. Looking on line 2 Koralia 1's use about the same as 1 Koralia 2 and you can spread the flow around.

I got 2 Koralia 1's for my tank, but since I got a chiller for the summer, will probably use that for the second flow until winter.
