Flow question

Ok im swithing from flowr to reef, getting my first corals this week. Anyways the flow i have in there now is a Koralia 3, a 200GPH canister filter and a 420 GPH pump on my protein skimmer. My tank is 60 Gallons.

My question is about flow, i just upgraded the pump on my skimmer, it used to have a Maji jet 1200 on there, if i were to add one of those mod kits to it that give it 1600 GPH in there, seing as i have flow of 1470 now would adding 1600 be too much?

In general you want as much flow as your corals can stand .. how much depends on the type of corals, the amt of flow, the kind of flow (wide/gentle or small/fast) as well as positioning.

so far the corals i have ordered is a saebe anem. some mushrooms and zoos. I like some sps's that i see online. would that be too much? i dont really think i should worry about the filter and skimmer flow because it seems just to touch the surface and not go to the rockwork

2 things should help you decide the flow.
1)The corals you want to keep:
http://www.asira.org/caresheets

The above site has a lot of information about corals, feeding, lighting, flow and a difficulty level to keep them

2)You need enough flow for your corals AND to keep detritus from sinking on your subtrate and rocks. So don't go changing the positioning of powerheads to give flow to the corals.

Since korallia power heads are so cheap I would first research on the corals I would keep and then buy additional powerheads for those corals.
