Flow questions

Getting back in after a few years (more like 7). My last two tanks I ran a closed loop and am looking for something different this time. I have a 90 gallon that will be a mixed reef, mainly SPS with some LPS and Zoa's.

I like the idea of a Gyre, I hear they get loud at stronger percentage of power, so I am looking at a XF250.

Now my question is would I be better off with two of them, or one with a MP40 or a couple MP20's?

In a 4ft tank, I believe the XF250 will be enough. Even one MP40 will give some good flow in a 4ft tank. You could get one of each and have them on a timer, alternating on/off times. You could go with 2 MP40s and run them around 50% will probably be more than enough.

I have a 90 with an mp40 and to be honest I wish I had a second one. If my overflow pump could be a little stronger that is all I really would need. I usually only have it running at 75 percent but there are some dead spots in the back corners. If I had a lot less rock or it's happened differently tho the one mp40 might be sufficient enough. But taking a turkey baster to the spots once in a great while seems to be fine.
