Flow vs water movement

Hi

I'm having a hard time with my powerheads starting in reverse, i have 4 koralia evo 1400, some times they start fine, someother they don't and is time for me to get rid of this pumps and get something better.

I want controlled tunze, I don't like vortech, but reading about the subject i have found info i didn't know and is that there is flow and there is water movement.

Flow is what power heads give, flow into the tank, water movement is what wave box do move the whole mass of water.

So what do you prefer and why??

You don't want to run a wave box without the streams, if you have a wave box, you still need a way to keep detritus flowing towards the overflow, the box by itself will not do that. You can run the streams by themselves without the box, but they work best in tandem. Not all tanks are a good candidate for a wave box, mine is one of those, but if I had a more traditional tank, I would be rocking the tank with a wave box and my streams.

I would ditch the Koralia's too, in fact I did long ago and would be hard pressed to run anything other Tunzes.

+1 on the tunzes. I'm dying to get a couple for the 75. Wish I had the cash. I have my old Koralias on old school DIY swirlers. They're ugly but effective.
