flushing sound in drain to sump

I have a terrible flushing sound in my drain line to my sump. I think it is because my line dips and holds water causing it to back up untill enough water to push it through on to the sump. Does this sound right? Also if this is the case then of course the answer would be to shorten the drain line thus taking out the dip. What other line could I use besides the line that came with oceanic sump . Tried airline tubing , to stiff . PVC and hard plumb it?

the line dips because it is just to long. The sump comes up fairly high . It is only about a foot and a half from tank bottom but about three feet in length line is 4' . I am afraid to cut the tubing that came with sump only to find out that my problem is not fixed and my drain line leaks .

Gotta fix that line length buddy, d a search on Durostandpipe that makes my tank quiet. My overflow drops into the standpipe then straight down into the sump a fall of about 2feet from top of standpipe to sump level, I installed a bubble trap on the bottom to quiet it further.

Okay yeah thats your problem. If you're afaid to cut, go to home Depot and get a new one.

I take it you can't coil the extra line in your sump.
