Fluval Edge light replacement

I have done a lot of research on ways to DIY this aquarium, and unfortunatly I don't think there is a single way to do it without sacrificing the look of the tank.

The PAR38 LED fixture needs to me mounted at least 8-10'' away from the tank in order to light it fully (which obviously isn't an option).

JMO but this tank just isn't made for saltwater. Hoping someone can prove me wrong...

Replacing led light on the fluval edge 6 gallon tank

I am posting here simply to help others. The Fluval Company replaced the lamp that came with the tank no charge. That was nice of them. I like the tank very much and I also liked the light. Just a couple of notes. The original light may have shorted out because I took the plastic piece off of the switch. It didn't work on the original light until I did that. But When I added water it may have gotten onto or into the switch. Okay. It is easier to take off the old light if you disconnect the light and the pump. Take the pump out of the tank and out of the black casing. Then manipulating the chords pick up the black casing holding the light. Remember there is still water in your pump so pour it out or it will go all over the place. If you put the housing in front of you you will notice two tiny screws with philips heads right near the hinge. You must loosen them first. The light will not come off until you also loosen similar screws further back on the arm. You will need these screws so be careful taking them out. Once they are out the arm comes apart around the hinge. Now there is a wire that attaches to the back of the black housing. That wire is a female part of the electrical circuit that attaches to the male part that goes to the transformer you plug in. Unplug the old and plug in the new. There's only one way to do it so you cant get it wrong. Remember you must put water back into the filter. Plug everything back in and you are good to go. Any problems email me.

I built an led fixture for our Fluval Edge, thought it came out ok.
