i have seen a flying gurnard in the wild and it was at least 2 feet wide and 1 foot long! i wouldnt recommend it unless you had a very wide and long tank
I will have to see how fast and how large it gets in my tank. Right now it is just about 3 inches long and 4 inches or so wide. Hope I don't have to build a larger tank to house him.......
I have one and have had him in my 55 reef for about 6 months now. When he gets big enough he will go into my 210 aggressive. He will not bother any thing in your tank unless you have very small ornimental shrimp that he can fit into his mouth. Here are a couple of pics of him.
IMO this is not a good choice for tank life. They get rather large and wouldnt have enough room in a tank. At work, we have 3 in a 2,000g pond. They are easily over a foot long.
I happen to agree with the last two postings. I have seen them in the wild and cannot imagine them in a normal sized reef tank of less than 1000 gallons.
