Hi All,

The new FMAS administration has officially sanctioned a Tank Hop!! :D  :D

The Hop will take place Sunday December 16th and will be in the following format:

Several open houses/tanks will take place throughout the day. Maps and info will be provided to members so that they can navigate their way from house to house. Each of the host tanks will have an open house for a period of 2-2.5 hours. That way the hosts will only have to give a few hours of their time and can enjoy hopping as well. Hoppers will be able to pick and choose which tanks they want to go to.

So, right now we need some hosts. Jeff and I will be opening our house up, and I believe Joe (NYVP will as well). As this is the festive season, our hosts are encouraged to provide holiday confections to the hoppers (not a requirement, just a nice thought).

For anyone interested in being a host, please send me your best picture of your tank, along with your tank info, and address and basic directions to your house. Please also let me know what time of day works best for you. Email this info to fmastankhop@yahoo.com.

I will post the info/pics on the host tanks in this thread for all to see. Directions to people's houses and the times will be sent out to members in the week before the event.

P.S. Chris or new administration if you could please send this out in email form to all members with a cc to fmastankhop@yahoo.com, I would appreciate it.

Ahhh this is finally taking shape. Should be a fun filled day, I bet alot of people will be interested in participating.

Wicked, I'm totally down. School's over the 14th, so I'll have a few days of prep before going on show. Hopefully my tank is show worthy!

Matt, you'll get to see the product of the new bulbs on the tank :)

I'm also trying to get Darcy (45commando) to show us his 120g, and hopefully Rogger will be available to show off his new 375g.

Reminder:

For those who are interested in hosting, please send me your best picture of your tank, along with your tank info, and address and basic directions to your house. Please also let me know what time of day works best for you.

Email this info to fmastankhop@yahoo.com.

Hey Jeff lemme check my call schedule. If I'm off count me in. I will let u know.
I do believe that's the week before xmas and most likely I'm on call.
since I won't be seeing my tank in two days why should u LOL j/k

I'm down to open my tank up for the day. Don't have any pictures, but I'll work on it. If I get some free time I'll snap a quick pic. I live close to rogger so it's not that far outa the way.

I'm going to find out this weekend from my parents if it's cool to do this. I would be very excited to take part in the Tank Hop though. Hopefully by then I'll have my Aquatronica unit installed and rockin' and rollin' :) Can't wait to see other people's tanks too.

We should also really set up carpools (but of course it's up to whoever wants to do it. maybe even do carpools from people from different areas who live near each other). So much event organization, I'm sure.

Is this open to non-members? LOL, I will be joining up in Jan for sure.
paid or not paid your one of us like it or not your always welcome.

Hey guys, I'd be happy to be a host for the tank hop. My 65 even though nice to me :D (hehe) doesn't compare to some of the tanks out there but my 110gal frag tank setup in my garage could be stared at for hours, so it's an added bonus.

I'll send you some pics Christy.

I would like to host members to my home for the tank hop. I'm in east Broward, near Oakland Park Blvd and Federal Hyway.

There's a link below to some FTS of my 90 and 55 setups.

The 90 features some beautiful wrasses, gobies, Niger Triggerfish, a brooding trio ??? of Pajama Cardinals and a mix of soft corals and SPS frags.

The 55 is mostly soft corals, but features a large Bubble Coral and BTA. Fish include Maroon Clown, Lyretail Anthias, Diamond Goby, Hawkfish, Orchid Dottyback.

Both tanks feature BTAs and clownfish, gobies and pistol shrimp, clams, stars, shrimp, etc.

Though not as large as some member's setups, all my critters are healthy and fat. There are no signs of ich or other parasites. All of my corals show signs of progress.

If I can make a suggestion... it sounds like there will be enough houses open... Maybe we should segregate a little, and do an every 4 months tank hop, one in Miami, one in Broward, and one in Boca/WPB (or maybe every 6 months, one in Miami/south Broward, and one in North Broward/Palm Beach). I think the hardest part will be choosing who to go see. At least the old way, there was a route, with transportation supplied.

I've secured the idea with my parents, so my house will be open. I'll be sending Christy some specs in a few minutes. I'm interested to see how big this gets and the direction it takes.
