Foam Ball On Xenia?

Just looked at my Xenia frag and on the stalk there is a small ball of what looks like styrofoam/nerf foam stuck to the side of it. I do not have any similar material in the tank. This thing appeared within a 3-hour period.

Oh. No...i dont have kids.

I had my hands in the back chambers of the tank just using s turkey grater to get all of the detritus. Anyways, now that i think of it there were several of these same foamy balls on the walls of the chambers and i must have knocked one off somehow. So, any idea what they might be? I used to have lots of LR back there but had to take it out due to excessive detritus getting trapped. Could they be sponges?

Without a picture we could have 20 guesses and they would all probably be wrong.

Yah..its nearly impossible to get a pic of. Remember this is a small frag and the sponge thing is small on a weird angle.

Oh well - just wanted to see if anyone else had this occur. I think it was something from the bk of the tank and not growing from the xenias. Thanks anyways.

pineapple sponge? i just recently got some in my tank, i was concerned when i saw one then a week later, they were all over. clearing up now.

I think that must be what they are? Do they require any light? Because there are a few in my back chambers.
