How many of you place the pink foam sheets under your tanks?
Thinking I should place a sheet under my aga 120.. Thoughts ?

When I set my aga 75 I placed some under it with no ill effects.

I have read that the foam is for the acrylic tanks since the whole bottom touches the stand.

Some glass manufacturers will void any warranty where it was used underneath the whole tank. Around the edges is ok, but not touching the glass.

It all depends on how the tank was made. As skeletor121 said, some tanks are meant to sit on the entire bottom, some just on the outer edge of the bottom.

Since it is an AGA if useing foam only on the perimeter where it sits, you donot want it touching the center brace under the glass bottom or in time with compression come in contact with it..

If I place a whole sheet down most if not all will be in contact with the black trim. I'm thinking it will help to level the tank.
The glass is reset alittle less then1/2 inch from the trim. So thinking just the trim will sit on the foam.

Not to hijack the thread... but why do you use it on acrylic?? I just recevied my first acrylic tank today.... a C.A.D 39g sig. Is foam that needs to be used for a tank like that??

again, sorry to hijack that thread but figured it was the best place to post instead of a new thread.

when a tank sits on a unlevel stand it puts stress on the seams at the bottom of the tank. Its not going to bust a seam over night but down the road it most certainly can. Its a much more common problem for long tanks than short ones IMO.

So if the stand it level and the tank is level than there shouldn't be a problem... correct?

btw - i'm an idiot... the C.A.D 39g is a glass tank.... wow it has been a long week!
