Foam under the tank ....is it a musr?

Just took delivery of my Miracles tank. They say to use foam under the tank but I'm trying to figure out how to make the foam not an eye sore. The stand is a black oceanic tech stand and the trim on the bottom of the tank is black. A white piece of foam in between is gonna look like crap.

Any suggestions?

If your tank is rimless, then foam is pretty much a must. If your tank has plastic trim, foam is not needed and should not be used. It will eventually compress enough to put pressure on the bottom pane of glass. That will, sooner or later, burst the seam.

Miracles tanks have a thin piece of trim on the bottom but its really thin so essentially the bottom of the tank rest on the stand.

If Miracles suggests it, I would follow the advice. You could always find some thin balck palstic, or even wood, to use as trim and cover it up.

follow the advice from them and then install trim around the bottom . you can use a very thin bead or silicone to hold the trim to the tank .paint it first and also wait until the tank has been up and running for a month so it can compress the foam before you trim it . its very simple and good luck !

Yeah that's an option as well.

It depends on your stand. What kind of stand do you have? You might not see the foam anyway. My stand has a kind of lip that hides the foam from view.

Ended up just spraying the foam satin black.

I dunno....may add molding at some point or leave it as is.

That does not look bad at all. I know its one of those things that even though other people don't know it's there or notice it you do, but I as one of those 'other' people think it looks really good:thumbsup:!

Does the stand have a solid top? If not I think there will be issues. I beleive rimless tanks require a soild top for the tank to sit on. The reason for the foam is to remove any presure points tht maybe created from an uneven surface. Rimmed tanks are also built to support the open stand tops.
