Hi guys,
For my 28G sps tank, I have been getting decent growth and color in the past mainly with fish poop as well as some reef nutrition rotifer and oyster feast. Due to our visitor Irene, the power was out for 5 days. The tank is OK, with backup battery air pumps and some manual stirring I only lost 1 coral (monti confusa) and no fish. However, we had to toss out everything in the fridge and freezer. So, all coral / fish food is gone, time to start over.
Since I have a chance for a fresh start, what do you guys recommend to help the corals grow and keep color. Lighting is good, parameters are stable, 3 fish are fed every other day, and I do 15% water changes every other week and have an MP10 for good flow. But, I think that the corals need a bit more. So, what should I get to supplement?
Some choices I have thought about:
--reef nutrition is good in my opinion since it is easy to keep in the fridge and pop a squirt of it in every other day or so. But, which one (or more) is best for SPS growth and color?
--Other aminos? what brand works well?
--cyclopeeze? is there a brand that is best?
--more fish poop? I can feed them daily rather than every other day. I have been feeding instant ocean marine blend gel food, since my fish all love it and it is much easier than frozen. Any other fish food suggestions that might be ok, without the hassle of frozen cubes which are too big for my small tank?
thanks for your suggestions.
