so I'm begging to stock my 40g... right now all I have is 6 frags.. 4 which are zoa's.. is it recommend to feed or dose tank with additives for better health of zoa or coral in general?.. if so what should I be looking at keeping in the feeding arsenal? thanx

IME most zoas feed mainly on light. Out of 5 frags I have only 1 accepts food. I would just try to feed the zoas once or twice and if they go after it. Then feed the ones that do accept food ever now and again...for the fun of it.

aaaaa... mainly light? try smaller types of food. zooplankton, phytoplankton, oyster eggs, some of those powdery reef foods with so called everything you need. mix with some tank water get a pipet and target feed. You will see a difference over time I promise.

I had good luck putting a shot of ecosystems -> reef solutions in the tank when I remembered to grab it out of the frig. most of the time I would mix it with my brew that I target fed. good luck ;)

I have just been dusting my frag's with a lil mix of cyclops, rotifers(1/2 a cube each) and phytoplankton.. I plan on adding some oyster eggs to that recipe as soon as i pick some up.. how does that sound? is there anything I should add/take out? I'm only doing this kind of feeding once a week since bioload is low..

Try GoldenPearls !!! I've been trying to get into a routine for the past three weeks. I feed my fish (NLS, ON 1& 2, Brine, Mysys), the coral extension at this point is great and then an hour later I shut all pumps and skimmer off after dosing phyto and golden pearls, I only do the phyo and GP every other day. Growth and colours have been good.

all button polyps and colonial anemones are in the family zoanthidae, including genus palythoa and protopalythoa. That said plenty of members of genus Zoanthus do eat prepared foods. I feed cyclopeeze along with mysis and plankton for the fish and shrimp. Some polyps respond to the feeding, others dont.

I picked up more corals and zoa's.. I actually seen one of the zoa eat a mysis shrimp today during the feeding!!
