Food for BTA

Different every day. Mixes of oysters, scallops, squid, table shrimp, mysis, brine, formula 1, oyster eggs, coral vibrance, selcon, and garlic extreme.

You have to consider there size. I have seen them from dime size to about 4" across. Now the dime size definatly will not handle silversides so the mysis shrimp, and other frozen foods are your best bet. But when they get bigger a siomple silverside once a week or so should keep them real happy.

I do prime reef. It wouldn't eat silversides, and not much else is available to me.

Only thing I heard about silversides is that the bones can hurt the anem...besides that I've heard they're pretty good. Also, TropTrea, BTA's can get much, much larger than that. At times, my BTA is getting 6-8" inches and I don't think it's done growing...I've seen them as big as 12-16".

Do you have a reference that suggests the dangers of silversides? I've just started feeding them and don't want to cause any damage. But I'd imagine that they wouldn't have many boneless meals in the wild.

I did mean to indicate that 4" is there max size. What I meant was that under 4" it is hard to feed them silversides.

I usually feed pieces of silversides to mine, but it ends up eating pretty much whatever I put in the tank, since my clarkii clowns take food back to it. Including Prime Reef, pellet food and any other frozen food like brine, mysis, squid, etc.

I started out with Silversides, but saw the threads/research on gut-rot. I've been using Mysis for quite some time, and my BTA loves it. I shoot a dozen or two at the anemone once or twice a week.

Grown from a 3" base to about 8-10" in 5 months.
