I try to make sure my rics get alittle bite when I feed my fish, either brine mysis, or some homemade stuff. I find that they grow and divide faster when fed.

gtriamy, I find it's easiest to feed mysis shrimp because I have more control over the food. You can't just put the shrimp on the ric and just let it be IME. I coax my rics by moving the shrimp around its tentacles to let it know there's something on it that's food. Within a few seconds I usually see it start to fold up to move the food to its mouth. I have to wait for the food to be eaten by the mushroom before I can take my attention away from the mushroom because I have a Six-Line Wrasse and a Cleaner shrimp that'll take the shrimp from the ricordia if I don't guard the mushroom. It's kinda annoying, but it makes me feel good to know my mushrooms are getting more food sources than just light.

I agree with the mysis shrimp. I had a tank a while back with some ric's in it. At frist i didn't feed them anything, but after a while i started shutting off my pumps and fed them mysis. After I did that, they soon started multiplying.

I agree with both sides from above. Ricordea don't have to be fed, but they will grow and multiply more quickly if they are. You can just drop a single small mysid onto the ric polyp--and stay there keeping all the other little scavengers from taking it. If the ric is going to eat, it will close up over the mysid and eat it.
