hey gang.
I have been thinking alot of what I have been feedign all my fish and inverts lately and I want to try and focus on getting them really fresh food. I want to try and buy alot of there food and the supermartket mix it all up and freeze it for them I believe I remember reading a recipe from Borneman where he would go out and buy lots of fresh goodys for them.
anywho my question is what kinda of recipes do youll use ?

I recently started using this frozen seafood mix from Sams club.

I dont have the bag rite now bc I threw it away so I cant remember what its called but its got shrimp, scallops, octopus, and I think one other ingredient (sorry my memmory is a lil hazey since it takes about 6mos for me to go through a bag I forget the details) I add some garlic and this vitamin juice a local reefer gave me then blend, blend, blend. I put it in this lil kiddie Ice cube tray so each piece is like the size of those formula 1 cubes.

Fish seem to like it.

I was doing fresh from the seafood stand but that was very expensive and since I end up freezing it anyways Im pretty much getting the same results.

I was considering the same thing. I read somewhere that you can also mix in vegetables and a good fish food to ensure that all of the right nutrients and such are included. You can freeze the pureed mixture into small portions as to not pollute your tank.

but if you're in canada....its a pita...

im gonna make my own and try it and see how everything goes, probably...

silversides, oyster eggs, shrimp, mysis, brine, prawns, scallops, some fish fillets, formula 1&2 and what about clams/oysters??

i'm gonna probably start that in the next week or so and see how it pans out i'll be able to get a good deal on alot of the stuff which is a bonus

Not to talk crap about rods fish food (it seems as if everyone idolizes this guy and his food(his percs on the other hand i understand, kinda)) and its def a good product. But I was just looking up his food and at 20bucks per 6 oz bottle? lets not forget the markup your LFS will hook you up with.

Are you realy saving all that much on gas when you still have to drive to your LFS as apposed to sams or any other supermarket that will sell the seafood medly and the other ingredients? Im not saying mine is better by any means but when you do the math we can all make fish food just as good for a fraction of the price. I mean seriously, he puts the recipe on the side of his food. You can make much more then 6oz for what its gonna cost you at your LFS.

Sorry Rod, If your listening I actually do plan on buying some percs from you in the near future.
