Hi Everyone.

I have just put two ricordi seahorse's in a tank, and they are eating frozen brine shrimp.

So that they have all the vitimins and nutrients they need to thrive... What else can I give them to eat??

Could I add garlic to the food, or is this not reccomended?

Regards

Ian

Brine shrimp are not a very nutririous food. The best thing to feed, and what most seahorse keepers use, is frozen mysis. See if you can find Hikari brand in your area.

If you have a large enough tank you could establish a rubble area or a macro algae area and add some amphipods to the tank as a source of live food. Because seahorses are such picky eaters, I like to give mine some live pods. I actually have a refugium tank that is the same size as the main tank. Thats probably a little extreme, but you get the idea.

Fred

P.S. have not heard of ricordi species. Is this a typo?

Hi Ian,
Do you mean H reidi species?

As Fred mentioned, brine is not a good diet. Mysis should be the main food but variety is very important too for good health and longevity.
