Food ???

One of the more overwhelming things in this hobby is the variety of food available to the consumer.

I purchased my first fish yesterday (Fire Goby) and then stood starring at the vast amounts of food available to me.

I asked what they had been feeding the Goby and they said Mysis and pellets.

I had shrimp pellets already and purchased the Mysis.

My next fish will be a Yellow Watchman Goby and I would like to pick up more food so I can feed a variety.

So I guess my Question is what are you feeding your fish and does one brand stand out over the others ?

Thanks T Kish

I feed formula 1 & 2 pellets/flakes and I try to alternate frozen with mysis, brine. but your right there are a lot of options. some people even make their own frozen food. the key is to give them a well balanced diet of different foods, You would't want to eat just burgerking every day would you? neither would your fish...

I thought this might be an interesting topic but I guess not:(
Thanks for your reply sisterlimonpot.

Flake, pellet & frozen can all be very high in phosphates. This can fuel algea outbreaks. The good thing about frozen is you can simply thaw in some tank water & strain. This will remove a good amount of the phos. PE Mysis is expensive but is widely considered some of the best mysis out there. Looks totally different thawed than the cheaper stuff.

Right now, I've stopped feeding all but the PE Mysis as I'm fighting some hair algea. I was feeding several kinds of frozen cubes & I think that the gel binder in some of them caused this outbreak.

PE Mysis is the food I purchased today and the Fire Goby loves it , never thought to strain it though.

Are there any other Brand name foods dry or frozen that I should look at?

Thanks T Kish
