Football Saturday's in da South

bama fan

bama fan

i love my bama boys but i still dont think think we deserve the number 2 spot. i haven't looked to see if we dropped any after the Kentucky game yet though. We still seem to think we ar all that and a bag of chips when we are truly just a good rounded team. If we get rid of our big heads then i think we will continue to do very well. :)

Auburn, sadly is embarrassing me. They need to get their act together.

Vandy...WOW. is all i have to say.

Georgia. ehhh is better than they are playing. they showed it in the 2nd half of the bama game.

Florida havent seen them play yet so beats me. haha

LSU still gonna do good IMO.

Kentucky. SHould have beat bama, but i think that is more of a bama playing like their old selves.

Miss St. will be a force to reckon with in the SEC here soon if they aren't already are.

that's all i can think of for now. time to play with the Aquarium some more :)

Florida NEEDS a win over LSU.
Tebow has recommitted himself to this team.
If they would just pass a little more I think they could be scary good.
They need the defense that played UT to show back up this Saturday.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Gators!

I'm a HUGE Auburn fan, I'm talking my dad and his dad graduated from auburn, and I have to admit I stopped watching the game at the half. The offense wasn't even high school level. They run the i-formation first Q and get 125 yards and 2 TD's (should have been 3). Then the 2nd Q they go back to that crappy pseudo-spread. Why change something that's working??? There were 3, THREE, fumbled snaps for crying out loud! I've never played a second of football, but I guarantee you I could stick my hands between a guys legs and grab a ball.... I swear Todd doesn't belong on the field. They need to take him out and use some of the amazing talent they have sitting on the bench.
The Georgia v Auburn game is either going to be really ugly, or really amazing. I sure hope it's the latter.
The good news is, a really good friend of mine goes to Vandy, so I'm happy they're having a good season for him haha.
I didn't get to watch any other SEC teams, but I heard Wilson had a horrible game. I honestly wish I could say I want them to win a national championship, but after all of the utterly obnoxious and ridiculously annoying taunting from my friends that are Bama fans I've gotten this season, I hope they get to the championships and lose by 35.

Whew, what a week....

Did you Mean Miss St., or Ole Miss (Univ of Miss)? State's not doing so hot this year (I don't expect to see Sylvester back). Ole Miss has some talent. We beat Florida in the swamp, then lose to SCar at home... Little mistakes are killing us (and some stupid ones). Once they gel, the Rebels will be a team people worry about.

I know we are all still reefing but, this time of the year we probably got one eye on the tube as well. So, any thoughts, predictions, disappointments so far??

I will go first.

MY Georgia Bulldogs have NO business in the top ten and really appear to be a poorly coached team with minimal talent.

Auburn is a well coached and dangerous team, but they lack the playmakers needed on offense to get over the hump with this spread offense. BUT TUBBS will get em together and get the best out of what he has.

Alabama................uh.... it looks like my DAWGS are next, and when the weakest link on the team is a very expierienced QB, they are scary.

Florida.........I HATE em, but they are very good

anyone else ??

Well I was right all over the place on my Dawgs, I dont see how a well coached team goes out and does what I saw yesterday.

I was wrong on Auburn, even Tubbs is not gonna be able to turn this around.

Saben is apparently worth every dollar he is paid

Florida... still good, and I still despise em.

Not until next year... After all the crap that's happened this year there's just no team effort. There's really no will to win. As soon as one bad thing happens they all basically give up.
And having 9 injured players doesn't help either... Those trainers need to get to work! haha

One thing is for sure, with Auburn and Tennessee not looking so hot Alabama is having another really nice recruiting season. I would say there is the potential for a new coach at Auburn depending on those last two games.

You may have hit on something there for sure, I am hearing that AU's recruiting may suffer with the uncertainty of what offense they will be running. I like Tubb's, but pressure may force a change at the top.

But who would they get??

They won't fire him. It's partially his fault in the aspect that he chose to take a risk and hire Franklin, but the vast majority of the blame lands on Franklin himself. When your OC is fired after 5 games and your offense gets better, that's a big red flag.
Sure, all the other offensive coaches probably felt threatened and resisted changing when some new guy came in and starting ordering them around, but from what I've gathered Tubberville told franklin to get it done, period. And he just couldn't. Apparently we're getting a QB that was rated #6 in the nation, but he probably came for the spread offense, so I don't know what will happen now.
I really don't see how the spread helps recruiting so much. Spread = overrated IMO.

Phillip Fulmer was VERY "VERY" emotional today at his press conference. He cried like...well like a man, it was tough but I suppose it had been coming for a while.

And Tenn played for the SEC title last year !!!!

Coaching is a tough business

On Auburn and Tubberville, its hard to call, but it aint looking good

Yes the lost of Fulmer to Tenn was very sad and indeed the job of a college football coach is very tough. One day you're in and the next you're out. I was hearing over the radio today that one the possible candidates for the Tenn job might actually be the head coach from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think Tommy Tubs will be ok but he will have his hands full on GA and AL. I agree with TheOwn4ag3 that the primary fault for the downfall of the program was Franklin, but I believe that the spread offense is effective it just needs two things to make it work and thats TIME and an effective QB that is quick to release the ball and is not afraid to run with the ball. I think if they had worked more with Kodi during the off season and possibly allow him to start they may be a little bit better than they are now. Even though Auburn lost to Ole Miss, Kodi Burns being it be his second start did ok (yes even with the 3 or 4 ints). Plus its not like they lost to a really bad team or anything Ole Miss is a very good team especially having Houston Nut as a coach. That really was a blessing in disguise for him. Now I would like to say that I'm glad that AL is finally no.1, but I am concerned with the obstacles ahead of them in their quest for the bcs bowl. They will go against LSU, AU (yea I believe they will get most of the kinks out to make it a tough game), and the SEC bowl in which if its FL, its gonna be a dog fight. As far as outside of the SEC I'm very impressed with how teams like Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Mich St., and Penn St. are doing. Finally, yes the APPS are very impressive against Wofford. Even though they got killed against LSU they were insane and that qb armani edwards is a beast. I think he has potential to play on sundays lol.

I'd loe to see him on Sundays, but I have no idea what position he'd play...certainly not quarterback (unless...does the CFA play on Sundays?!)

Can somebody explain why Auburn was so good for so long, and seemingly, the wheels fell off the bus this year?

I also want to retract everything I said about Alabama buying Nick Saban...like many other investments, the money is made on the purchase not the sale--and clearly, Alabama got a good price when they bought Saban. Who knew? :)

If you ask me, the new OC Tony Franklin is an expert on the spread, but can't coach it. I equate him to one of those math genius grad students that's teaching cal III. He's knows everything about math, but can't teach to save his life. Well, Franklin doesn't seem to be a people person, and apparently can't coach to save his life (or his job).
He tried to run the spread with his bff Todd, but he's too slow, weak, and indecisive to be a QB for a spread offense. They kept switching QB's in an out, so the offense never developed any type of unity or momentum.
On top of all that, these was a lot of friction between the old offensive coaches at AU and Franklin. Apparently they didn't like someone else telling them how to coach offense...
AND, AU has 9 injured players at the moment, and they're have at least 5 good players out from surgeries all year.
Not to mention, AU's offensive line is getting killed, and they seem oblivious to the concept of blocking past the line of scrimmage. This is making running next to impossible.

If it comes down to UA v UF, Florida's gonna kill them :)

Franklin was another scapegoat added to the long list of coordinators Tubbs has fired. AU's offense has been worse after Franklin's departure. Who hired Franklin I believe that was Tubbs so ultimately it's his fault. As far as Ua vs. Fl.... at least they made it there. I bet AU fans are excited at the chance to play in the Papa Johns bowl in B'ham if they make it to a bowl.

How can he be a scapegoat when he himself admitted he didn't perform? AU's offense is worse after Franklin? No, actually it's about even, but at least there are signs of improvement now. under Franklin, over a 5 game period there was no improvement. Just constant poor play calling.

I seem to remember just a while back everyone wanted Tubberville fired. Then he went undefeated. He's doing what he thinks is best for the team. Hopefully he can get over this hurdle quickly.

I'm happy AU is finally getting what it wants. Too bad those tens of millions of dollars were all spent on coaches and not put toward education. I guess money can buy happiness, huh?

I wonder, in Auburn's case does recruiting, or the lack of effective recruiting lead to what we are seeing now. I know they have injury's, but Bama is winning with Young talent, and Tubb's didnt all of a sudden forget how to coach.

I have seen the spread work pretty well in other teams, Florida walked all over my Dawgs using it some this weekend.

Do a little research. Saban's contract is paid from the money UA football generates and boosters. Have you seen tubbys house? He's not doing to bad.

Also both tubs and franklin said they didnt have the players for the spread and would recruit them. One minute tubs says he supports franklin and will stick to the spread he get's a little heat and fires franklin.
