what do you guys think would be good for my 120g reef?

i have

PBT(that is still alive after everyone said he was going to die : )
2 clowns
1 blue damsel



i wanna get some color in my tank, and would like 1 more tang
i really like the atlantic blue tang, and a lfs has a baby yellow one. but im afraid of having too many blue fish

clown tang (but gets too big)

achilles tang(hard to find and $$)


no yellow or kole.....


and what other colorfull fish would be nice??

firefish are cool. maybe a small group of the chromis. they are supposwd to school. what about a desjardni (sp) tang? or pacific sailfin?

I believe everytank needs a yellow tang

what about a purple tang?
some of the wrasses? don't know how friendly they are....

Try a baby Great White Shark!!!!!!! You would be one of the only few guys to keep it in captivation and they are very friendly fish. LOL

What ever you decide to put in the tank start with the least aggressive first then start considering some of the tangs above. If you start the other way first you may see the Tangs beating up everything you add. I have 12 Tangs in my 300 and the Purple, Powder Blue, and Hippo seem to be the most aggressive. My Valamangi, Sailfin, and chocolate tang seem to be the least aggressive. My 2 Cents

I read in one of the fish mags ....
yes I still read them.... if you are introducing a fish that is being picked on.... especially by a tang to use a mirror on the end of... or where ever you can... your tank. the tang will spend so much time fighting the new tang.... you know the one that raises his fin only when I do..... that he will ignore the new fish. after a few days get rid of the mirror and should be ok....

well i know i kinda screwed myself on the power blue by buying him allready, but he is so pretty.


i was lookin at AQ T today, and there were some cool fish. would you guys think a sohal tang would be too big?


i only want 2 tangs total, i dont wanna cramp them.
but i would like to get some other fish to fill it up

try the mirror thing or loop q tank for p blue in and add everything else in least aggressive order like they suggested

everything i get is going to be in QT for hypo, i want no chances of ich again. so im going to try to jump start the hypo cycle while the 120 cycles.


if the PBT is agressive to the other guys ill try the mirror thing, if not ill pull him out and QT him for a week and throw him back in.


the kole is pretty, how hard is it to find?


any info on the sohal tang?

89...I am following this also...my 120 finished its cycle about 6 weeks ago...slowly been emptying my frag tank out...softies went in the tank about 3 weeks ago, LPS last week, the next week or so the SPS will be going in...

Right now I have a pair of mated Percs, 2 Yellow Clown Gobies, Yellow Watchman Goby and a Pink-Spotted Shrimp Goby...plus CUC with a mated pair of Banded Coral Shrimp...

These fish I had already...now trying to figure out what I want now...thinking somekind of Wrasse, maybe some Anthias, and a couple different Tangs hopefully...

so...back to lurking on this thread! LOL!

I walked into Hectors place after looking for one for 2 months and he had one already eating for $50 I think. He said he could get them again if it didn't work out. He's a great tank mate, doesn't get too big and is something different. Mine's a little lighter than that guy.

i finally was able to do a search, and the sohal wont work out.
say its is VERY agressive and went 4 to 12in in 6mon.

im debating on a YT

how many tangs would be ok in a 120?
