for a 40 gallon breeder

I'm looking for MH lighting advise for a 40 gallon breeder. I have a pulse start 2x175 and a Galaxy 2x250 MH ballast and a 1/3 hp chiller. I used both over a 75 gallon with good results but following a move lost most of my corals and switched to a 40 breeder and LEDs which didn't work out too well. The 40 breeder became a FOWLR and I really want to go back to corals. So what should I do should I use the two 175s over the 40 or would 1 250 suffice?

The two 175s will be plenty. I ran a 65 on 2 150s for about 1.5 years with SPS with no issue. The only issue with the one 250 is ensuring you hang it high enough for sufficient coverage.

I was successful with just 1 175 over a 40 breeder at the time. I didn't have many SPS at that point but, it was fine for anemones, Rics, Zoas, Gorgs, etc. If you're looking at doing primarily SPS, I'd go with 2 175s.
