For all that know Satori (Mike)

Hi Mike,
I've been following the Lounge thread just not posting. I guess everyone is posting what I'm thinking. We're praying for you and Angela. Sorry to hear 6% was still left. It's better than the 36% last time. Progress right? Here's hoping the new intense treatment works to wipe it out. BTW ever find out what a cold means to a BMT?

Thanks Phil. Normally they look for remission (0%) before attempting the transplant since the percentage continues to rise each day that it's not treated. The transplant is really just used to maintain remission. Since they weren't able to do that with chemo alone, they'll use radiation which will basically sterilize her marrow so it doesn't produce any cells at all. Then they'll seed it with her brother's stem cells with the transplant.

They're not too concerned with the cold, as long as the nasal swabs keep coming back negative. They say it's not ideal, but don't really go into possible complications. The thing to watch is her temperature. If she spikes a fever above 38 celcius, they'll have to postpone the treatment. 37 is normal, and she's been around 37.5 to 37.8 today.

Ditto. Hugs!

Thanks for the good thoughts. Her fever hit 39.9 last night which is 103.8. This morning the BMT coordinator said her treatment has been put on hold a week. We don't know if it's because of the fever or other reasons. We'll find out when the team makes rounds this afternoon.

Gary, I thanked you in the Tucson forum, but I'll do it here too so it doesn't look like I'm ignoring you. :) I appreciate it.
