For Newbies like Myself

I was working on customizing my skimmer and hood, when my cheap flourescent lighting fell in. My first instinct was to try and grab it, but that only lead to a nice jolt of electricity. This is the first and last time I will make a mistake like this, but I thought I would share, so you can laugh at me and hopefully if you are new...learn from it.

Everyone knows this, but if you are like myself and think that it will never happen...It will eventually and believe me when I say it wasn't like a tickle.

OMG! I'm glad you are ok, or at least ok enough to post this. Do you have your tank on a GFCI? I'm guessing not...

What is weird is that I do have my tank running through a GFCI Extension cord, but I thought they only work if water hits the outlet, which is why a put the drip loop. The GFCI extension cord then goes into my stand away from water where I have a 6 outlet timer. I dunno, but wow did that wake me up.
