Some people have "converted" these to little hang on refugiums. Everything is there and working properly. You can use it to run carbon too.

Real cheap it's just sitting here taking up room. I think it's rated for 50-70 gallons or something like that. I think it's $60 retail.

How does the "conversion" work? I have an extra one too.

I don't know HEHEH. I guess they gut part of the bottom accrylic and put some baffles in there. I would keep it for carbon and phosban if I didn't have a reactor. Actually it's perfect for media like that because really that's what it was made for.

I might actually get a smaller aquaclear when I set up my new tank for doing just that. Because it's a pain to change the reactor.

I keep a hangon on all my tanks. Adds extra water circulation and that's where I put my media when I need it. If you do nothing, you will get a mini refugium since algae will inevitably grow on the outflow.

If you really want to convert one of these, you really need to change the impeller to reduc the flow. At least that's what most people that run these on nanos do.

where are you located at? and how old is the filter?

I'm in West Chicago (not too far from Aurora). And the filter is like a year old, but it actually only have about 1 and a half months of use (before I went with skimmer/liverock ect. . ) Very very good shape, honestly.
