Hi TFP,

1st in line for it.
Can you mention how old this skimmer is, did you buy it new, why are you selling it?

Very interested. Thank you very much and will wait for your reply. Are you still in Folsom?

i'll have to find the receipt later this evening for the details. trust me though...i take very good care of all my equipment :) i vaguely remember it being advertised to handle a 300g tank but i'd say its more like 150-200g. thats why i eventually ended up with 3 of them :p

Tim,

Just for every one to know, I am looking at an old MD catalog and this skimmer was rated by ER for tanks 200-500 gallons. ER latter started to mess with our heads in order to get us into buying more expensive/bigger units. Then ER rated it for 155g tanks. That is the truth of the matter.

Please let me know if you bought it new and/or how long you have had it Tim?

Thank you!

This catalog doesn't have a date, but that is what it reads.

Tim -

Sell it to Rich. You know he's good for the money and doesn't play head games. ;-) Beside - he's a contributing member of all the local reef clubs. Sell it to Rich so that you can go out buy more corals, frag em, and resell it to the club for some lowball price. It's a win-win for everyone. :D

Rich,

If anything, you should be thanking me for placing you out of your ignorance! But that's ok, that is just how some ungrateful people are. On the other hand, I have the satisfaction that if someone has the same question at some point, they can get the information right here. That is how I have learn many things on this site!

The new price on this skimmer actually is over $600, that is just so you will have your facts straight!

In terms of the details on the skimmer, I don't see anything wrong with asking the age of the item. If it happens to be older that what I would want, with all due respect to Tim, I will let him know that I will pass on it and since you are next in line, you can have it.

So please Rich, no need for hostily/stupidity here. Let's help each other in any way we can and let's all have a good time in this hobby.

This is a great deal and it may work for me, you or someone else.

All the best to you and have a great day!

Mihn,

with all due respect to you, I don't see why asking how old an item is should be called "head games". I have in fact seen you asking for relevant informationl when you want to buy from fellow reefers here on RC forums.

I don't see where I made a mistake, but if I did please point it out in an honest and constructive manner. Thank you!

In terms of Tim selling to me or to Rich or anyone else, it is his skimmer and who ever he wants to sell to is fine. I just thought that since the general courtesy here on RC forums is to give priority to prospective buyers as they come to the line, I thought that would be the case here. Again, it is Tim's skimmer and if he has a friendship with Rich or who ever and he wants to sell to the second in line then that should be respected. This is not a communist county, nor a realstate transaction in which rules exit and need to be respected or one gets a law suit. This is just a skimmer.
If Tim was to answer my respectful and humble question and tell me to paypal him right now, so he will not loose his other prospective buyer, I would do so right away. I am not one who likes to ask people to hold items without me having paid for them.

I also understand that since he, Tim, may spend more time around you or Rich, he may be inclined to sell to Rich just to have peace at home, so-to-speak. I will completely understand and hold no hard feelings. Another good deal will come along.

I am close to a computer and will try to check this thread as often as I can to see what Tim decides to do. Again, this is just a skimmer and I don't see a need to mislabel an honest and respectful question.

Regards

I've seen Tim's tank, and the skimmer(s). It's a good deal, and if you can't see that, then it is you my friend who suffers from ignorance.

Ask your club president what the other acronym for BAR is. It doesn't contain the words Bay or Area. ;)

gatanalgona, at this time i'm just going to sell the skimmer to rich.

no hard feelings but he's local, no shipping or travels, has done lotsa favors for me and i know he's good for the money. additionally, if there is a problem he's right in town.

not a knock against you at all, but i've been burned a few times where i've received tons of pm's about something and no one ever firmly said "I'll take it". things just turned into more an inquiry fest and responses got slower and slower for whatever reason. and then the nickel and diming...ugh...don't get me started!

but lmk if/when you're ready for sps frags and i'll get you a couple for the hassle...

Rich,

It wouldn't hurt for you to take a little breath and not be so trigger happy. After all, on your gallery you look like a middle-aged man not a 7 year old. I diidn't mean to be "buggin", but its is perfectly reasonable to respectfully ask how old and item is when it is not being sold new. I am sure this event will come to your mind next time you wonder how old an item is when not buying it new. Let's leave this conversation in peace and let it be the end of it. I wish you well with your new aquisition and all the success with your tank!

Tim,

Your reasons are very valid and I understand. Rich is local and has done many favors for you. Those two reasons alone justify the skimmer going to him, and even if that wasn't the case, it is your skimmer and you have the right to sell it to who ever you want.
I meant and I hope you took no offense by me asking how old the skimmer is. Besides being a good deal, the reason why I placed my self in line was because I was in Sacramento at the time and figured I could just drive a few minutes to Folson, buy it from you and get back on my way in no time and that's that.
On a nicer note, thank you for the sweet sps offer. When I get ready to go all sps, I'll go buy a few from you and make my tank a clone of yours. My best wishes to you and thank you very much for your good intensions for everyone and your thoughtfulness!

LET'S KEEP REEFING HAPPILY!!!!!!
