I have wrestled with this for a while, but with my wife's school reef now living at home, I figure it is time. I am selling my H. Reidi pair with their small tank setup. I got these from Seahorse Source as captive bred juveniles. They eat unbelievable amounts of frozen mysis shrimp. They are so happy that they have over 100 baby seahorses at 3 week intervals. Their home is a 9 gallon setup that is 14 inches high. The light is a 24 watt 50/50 fixture. The tank has a heater, algae magnet, about 10 pounds of live rock with macroalgae, a small HOB filter, and three kinds of snails. These horses are trained to eat from a feeder that I made for them so their food does not scatter. I will include the feeder too. OH, it also has a black homemade stand that I made for this tank.
It is preferable that the tank be kept no warmer than 74 degrees to keep harmful bacteria in the tank to a minimum. This is not vital, but I have always done so and have had NO problems. The tank is developing some hair algae on the rock due to recent infrequent water changes. The male is pregnant again and due in the next couple of days.
I will take $100 for the whole setup. Any questions, please ask. Pickup only. Thanks, Paulb.
PS - I will get a pic of the entire tank, but here are the horses at their feeder and some past baby pics.
