For Sale

I do not want you to feel like I am being critical, but realistically you are very unlikely to get even close to what you are asking out of the system. While I realize that you may have that much in the system, a good deal of people lately have had trouble selling bigger tanks, with more livestock, more expensive equipment, and selling for far less money. Most people won't buy a whole set-up unless it is really something fantastic or they feel they are getting a super deal. My advice is to part it out, you stand to make back more of your money that way.

Finally, a word on etiquette. These are not discussion forums. If you wish to purchase or trade, please post. However, if you only wish to comment on the quality of someone else's trade item or their price, with no intention of buying/trading, please keep it to yourself. These type of posts only sidetrack the thread away from the goal of the original poster - trading or selling their item.

"Selling/Trading Forums Dos and Don'ts
These forums exist as a service for our members to trade and sell their personal reef-related items. They are not intended as a commercial outlet.

If you are trading or selling equipment, repeatedly selling new equipment, having multiples of the same new item(s), or being able to "get anything" a poster may ask for is a sure-fire way to have your post removed as "commercial."

Sorry, the trading or sales of non-reef-related items is no longer allowed on ReefCentral.

Ebay auctions have become problematic and will no longer be permitted. If you wish to offer a non-commercial sale here, the community appreciates that. However, advertising Ebay auctions is not what these forums were designed for.

Likewise, ReefCentral encourages the sale and trade of items between hobbyists, but please don't go out and buy certain corals or equipment with only the intent of re-selling them here - that's not what these forums are here for. Also, once you have a website set up specifically to sell your frags, begin accepting credit cards and/or have automatic web-ordering, you can figure we will judge you as a commercial enterprise.

Please keep in mind that these forums are a service RC provides. Following the above guidelines help make the forums more user-friendly, and certainly makes them easier to moderate.

Thank you.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I commented how nice the setup looks here rather than in the selling/trading forum.;)

well, no offense, but this isn't the selling forum...and in good faith I am trying to explain to the guy that if he wants to sell his tank and get even close to the money he is asking for it he should part it out, otherwise it will sit and sit, and every few weeks we'll see that "price reduced" by another hundred or two until he will barelt recoop anything.

I am not criticizing his tank, I am saying that many incredible tanks have sold on here recently for FAR less. I have well over $2000 at least in my tank, and I suspect more like $4000, but if I sold it on here I wouldn't expect to get more that $500. People want to build their own tanks, their way, and so if you are trying to sell your custom set-up to someone else, it either has to be something spectacular or they have to feel like they are getting the best deal ever, or both.

I can tell by your post that you didn't have any bad intentions Adam, but I put the emphasis on "if you wish to purchase or trade, please post." In other words even if you have well intentioned advice, it is better saved for a PM. In a way that kind of sucks, but it keeps the thread clean and organized for the seller to make deals and so forth. Like I said, I know you only wanted to give a helping hand.

Technically we are not allowed to post sales in the club forums so that the mods have one big place (the selling and trading forums) to police everyone. However, as long as we can police ourselves and not cause a raucous, we are allowed to post in the club forums.

BTW I haven't heard from Roachbug so you can have the green pocci if you like.
