Forcipiger Flavissimus

Ive been waiting for a Muelleri for a long time. I saw all the Marginalis on Live aquaria and its very tempting but I think I'll wait a little longer.

muelleri? i think LADD had one before.

Muelleri is probably more common and easier to catch than marginalis. since they like to inhabit dirty muddy water near seagrass flats. and they can tolerate some degree of brackish water, and are found in estuaries.

but probably seldom seen due to the lack luster colours. but i still like it alot. i like all members of chelmon. chelmon muelleri is the easiest of the 3 to get feeding.

The very few marginalis I've seen locally were no better than a standard CBB, unfortunately :(. Skinny, marginal appetites (pun intended :D )... perhaps your location helps, with reduced shipping, LL?

I must have missed it. I'm a pretty patient Guy, one will pop up eventually. Can you share how your experience has been with your Chaetedon butterflies.

SDguy - i live in singapore so the flight from australia to here isn't as far as to the U.S.

however my specimens were all big. at least 4 inches. but they fed very well. i'm sorry to hear about your marginalis and i'm lovin the pun.

aquaph - my experience with my chaetodon butterflies? i've only kept a few.

copperbands - these guys can be caught locally in our beaches. so they handle aquarium life very well and begin feeding almost instantly. however, those that we receive from indonesia or philippines arrive in bad condition and do not feed. so collection plays a huge part.

longnose butterflies - all the forcipigers i've kept so far all ate with gusto. mysis and frozen are taken on the day of arrival. F. longirostris is slightly harder and need more feedings due to their tiny mouths.

roaps butterflies - i've kept declivis and mitratus with much success. these are like puppies and are bullet proof. the hardiest butterfleis you will ever find, and will eat prepared food even in the shipping bag sometimes.

i've also kept a whiteface mesoleucos butterfly for awhile, but it died from a bacterian infection. it was very hardy also.

not forgetting my marginalis.

easy easy easy easy easy fish and did i mention easy? that's just my experience anyway. maybe i was just lucky?
