Found 2 mantis's

In my TBS rock I picked up this past weekend I have found 2 mantis. One is red and the other looks like a brownish/blue. Both live in the same piece of rock. I am trying to trap them as I type this but no luck getting them to take the bait.

Anyone want them if I can get them out? As I have no place to house them and as cool as they are I dont want them in my main tank.

Red one sounds like an adult N.wennerae to me. The other one I'll guess to be either an adult N.wennerae as well, or N.brendini. BTW, prepare for the offers.

Offer #1! ...out of 10+...(average amount of offers I see per 'mantis giveaway' thread :) )

hmmmm...brownish/blue actually sounds like an N. curacaonsis! Apperently one of the more behaviorally interesting stomatopods. What do you think Dr. Roy? (Maybe N. curacaonsis isn't from that area, I don't know.)

Add another to the list, I just found another brown/blue one. so its 3 total now.

Im trying the bottle trap but no luck yet. :mad2:

Okay, my guess (exact age guesses most likely way off, but based on info Crewcab gave me):
1 5-6 yearold (old-adult) 'redmorph" N.wennerae
1 5-6 yearold(old-adult) "brownmorph"/"natural" N. (wennerae/curacaonsis)
1 3-4 yearold(mid-adult) "brownmorph"/"natural" N. (wennerae/curacaonsis)

Wow, you guys love these things huh? I think I replied to everyone that PM'ed me.

They are still not out yet and they are not taking the bait. Here is a little more info for those interested.

The red guy seems to be the most active out of them all and started showing all of himself today for the first time. By active, I mean he actually comes out of the rock instead of just peeking out like the other 2. He has actually burrowed all of the sand out from under one side of the big rock and I am scared he might crack the bottom glass. He hits alot.

The other 2 guys, one I knew about when I first posted this does seem to be in the same size range as the red one. They both live in the same rock and the rock is big at 32lbs. Its ackward to get out of the tank so I am trying to avoid that if possible but if I have to remove it to get some club soda in there to chase these guys out I will this weekend.

The 3rd one I found today is in another piece of rock but it doesnt look to be as big as the first 2 maybe around 1.5" - 2" he is also the brown/blue color.

When I get them out I will take pics and post them for all to see.

If you're interested in trades, I have some zooanthids and purple-tipped sps frags, of course if the others don't get all the mantis' first ;)
